My dogs, in particular, have never been embarrassed by an outburst of high-energy jumping and pawing at the air. Never would they think, Look at what a fool I'm making of myself! or Aren't I too old to act like this? It never crosses their mind. I believe in training a puppy in the basics, but am careful to not become too restrictive. It would be like training a flower not to bloom.
